The Penis-Biopsy
When there are clearly-visible skin changes at the genitals, many men resort to denial. The doctor is called in only once the lesion is already at an advanced stage or starts causing pain. Besides relatively innocuous causes such as fungal infection or contact dermatitis, it is well worth checking for pre-cancerous disease, also for sexually transmissible diseases. A biopsy is easy to perform and in many cases helps to confirm the diagnosis.
The attached work from PD Dr. med. D. Schneede Urology Clinic, Grosshadern Clinic at the LMU Munich gives an overview over the possibilities of a bioptical clarification of penile skin changes.
