Fatty tissue areas

Small punch biopsy where there is suspected erythema nodosum: as a rule, and in the present instance, too little fatty tissue is recorded by a punch biopsy. In addition, previously-damaged fatty tissue easily dissolves if it is not stabilised by septum. Punch biopsies are therefore unsuitable for diagnosing panniculitis.
